This new cycle of paintings is based on reflection upon my father's stories, "Stories from Zverinac" by Branko Škifić. Here is the excerpt from the book about the golden generation:
"In today’s story, I will describe a ten-year period, which is in many ways exceptional, special. The time is from 1970 to 1980. The years are taken roughly. Some of the described events do not have to belong strictly to the given time. And what makes that time so extraordinary, so important and interesting? It is made up of people, our people. A unique generation born between 1910 and 1920, mostly sailors, now pensioners and here they are at home, here they are at Zverinac. And there are almost twenty of them. Still relatively young. Full of power.
They are adorned with togetherness and friendship. They are the heroes of this story. They are the pride of Zverinac. They are restoring the place. They introduce it to a new era. "
